One of my favorite trends from the S/S runways is neon. I absolutely love the bright appeal neon has. A tip for toning down bright neon is to pair it with neutral colors. I love black leather or lace shorts or a skirt paired with a neon pink or yellow sweater. So effortlessly adorable. If you are opting for neon jeans I would pair them with a flowy white top and some edgy jewelry.
Delta Gamma Formal was held last weekend at Coors Field in downtown Denver, Colorado. The event was fabulous and I had so much fun! The field was a phenomenal choice of venue that had a complimentary s’mores bar! I have never curled my hair before, and have no idea how. You would think I knew how though, huh? All I did was twist my hair into a ballerina bun on top of my head right when I got out of the shower the day prior to my event. I let it down once to hairspray and then put it back up. I showered the day of the event with a shower cap. All though this was a risky move because I had NO idea if it was going to turn out and I waited to take it out until right before pictures, I’d say it worked pretty well. I last minute picked this dress up from Urban Outfitters because I loved the aztec accents. I paired it with nude nail polish, gold bangles, nude peep-toes, neutral make up, and bright red lips complimentary of MAC.
The Denver Museum of Modern Art was lucky enough to be selected as the one and only stop in America for the YSL exhibit. When my mother visited me I could not wait to take her! It was so interesting to read and hear about the celebrated French designer. Every piece in the exhibit was absolutely astonishing. Fun fact, Yves Saint Laurent was the first designer to feature ethnic models on his runways.
"Nothing is more beautiful than a naked body. The most beautiful garment that may clothe a woman are the arms of the man she loves, but for those who have not had the chance to find this happiness, I am here." - Yves Saint Laurent
This past week I worked as a promotional denim stylist for Madewell on their Denim Tour around the country. Madewell, a sister company of J. Crew, started in 1937 as a workwear line and is now known for their wonderful denim that adds a modern twist to their vintage feel. The Denim Tour was in Boulder, CO promoting the expansion of their store (two new stores will be opening in Colorado in August and October). The pop-up shop was held in a vintage airstream with a limited selection of clothing items for women to try on and get styled up to feel what Madewell is all about. The airstream was unbelievably adorable, and had the most amazing effortlessly vintage feel in it with old cameras and clocks adorning the shelves.
Madewell is a wonderful alternative to J. Crew that describes themselves as “your best friend and personal stylist all rolled into one.” I fell in love with their chambray shirts that come in a variety of three denim shades that are key to throw on for a relaxed look, or even wear as a swimsuit cover up. The variety of bright oxford shirts for summer were perfect. I also loved their Skinny Skinny jeans and the Skinny Ankle jeans that are the perfect amount of soft and stretchy..I’m coveting the kelly green color!
This past weekend a bunch of friends and myself headed up to The Grand Lodge in Crested Butte, Colorado for Lambda’s Formal. Crested Butte is a quaint little town nestled away in the Rocky Mountains that truly seemed like “the last great Colorado ski town.” With mountains surrounding it in every direction the ride up to Mount Crested Butte was blissfully scenic.
While on the town we enjoyed some to-die-for pizza at the Secret Stash, and then headed to some local bars for some drinks. In the morning we had Izzy’s, a once again surprisingly to-die-for breakfast place with latkes that will make your mouth water.
Poolside drinking on Cinco de Mayo and dancing the night away were some of my favorite highlights of the trip.
